Freshman P.E. Classes

 

Students come to Yorkville High School Academy where they follow a pre-determined curriculum of 18 weeks of freshmen PE and 18 weeks of general health. 

Freshman Physical Education-This fitness based class will include an introduction to personal fitness as well as knowledge of basic anatomy and physiology. Classes will experience 1-2 days per week in the weight room where they will be educated on basic weight room knowledge and safety. Principles relating to strength and conditioning, flexibility and body composition will be addressed. Students will also participate in various activities and fitness games involving cardiovascular endurance, muscular endurance, strength, speed and agility. 

General Health-This is a state-mandated and required course. A passing grade is necessary for graduation. This class is designed to inform students of the importance of choosing behaviors that lead to living a healthy lifestyle. Emphasis will be placed on making responsible decisions about health related issues. Units will focus on nutrition, eating disorders, drugs, alcohol, tobacco, relationships and disease.
