Sophomore P.E. CLasses
The sophomore curriculum is one semester of Sophomore Heart saver/ CPR and one Semester of either Drivers Education, Sophomore PE or Applied Personal Fitness. The Sophomore CPR class will equip students with lifesaving skills of CPR, how to relieve choking and how use an AED (automated external defibrillator). Students upon completion will receive their CPR/AED certification. Other units the Sophomore students will experience are team building, social dance, ultimate Frisbee, speed away, badminton, volleyball and bowling.
Sophomore Physical Education-This course is for sophomore students who will not be taking Drivers Education. It will include the activities of ultimate frisbee, frisbee golf, speed away, badminton, volleyball and bowling. Instruction will be provided in basic skill, strategies, and rules necessary to enjoy these activities for a lifetime. This class will also incorporate physical fitness activities and fitness games involving cardiovascular endurance, muscular endurance, strength, speed, and agility.
Sophomore Physical Education Heart saver CPR-Every student will become equipped in the lifesaving skills of CPR, how to relieve choking and how to use an AED (automated external defibrillator). Upon successful completion of the class, students will receive their CPR/AED certification. They will continue their experience with teambuilding activities, self-defense and social dance.
Applied Personal Fitness(APF)-10th ,11th and 12th grade students will have priority in course registration This class is designed to be sport specific with workout programs for both in-season and out-of-season athletes. Principles relating to conditioning, strength, flexibility, body composition, and the study of the sport will be addressed. Students will be required to participate in weight lifting, speed training, agility and cardiovascular activities.
